In my 5+ years in the fitness industry

One of the first things I learned when I started managing my weight was this…

What you eat first thing in the morning matters!

It determines what your body craves for the rest of the day

and communicates to your brain what to expect.

So it’s absolutely crucial.

Without first-hand experience, over half a decade of testing this myself...

I wouldn’t be able to tell you if this was true or not.

But I made the mistakes and I took their advice, I tried my own thing and this was the result...

I can verify that, this actually works!

Why Should You Think About It?

You always hear fitness people talk about the importance of certain things in your diet.

Especially protein

Here’s why....

Protein:

• keeps you full longer
• helps stabilize your blood sugar
• reduces your cravings
• supports your muscle growth and recovery
• boosts your metabolism through digestion
• helps your overall body composition

But I don’t know if you’ve heard this though…

Protein should be the first thing you eat in the morning, not sugar.

And I know this sounds simple, and obvious but hear me out...

Remember when you had that last slice of cake in the fridge from the night before…
or the cookie you didn’t eat yesterday…
or that chocolate bar you woke up excited to eat…

Sounds familiar right?

Do you normally eat breakfast before you go enjoy them?

Laugh-outt-loudd Girl, no, I know. That's the problem though.

People will tell you what to eat all the time…

But what they don't tell you is what you should focus on in the morning

and how much it sets the tone for your entire day

What you eat first can literally set you up for success… or setback.

Here’s What’s Happening in Your Body

When you start your day with sugar...

cereal, pastries, sweet coffee or juice...your blood sugar rises and fast!

So your body releases insulin to bring it back down.

Then your blood sugar drops… and you feel hungry again quick!

And that drop? It usually triggers cravings for another quick burst of energy

which ends up being more sugar and more carbs.

That’s how the cycle starts… and never ends.

Why Protein Works Better

It digests slower, so you stay full longer
Your body burns more calories digesting it (yes digesting it) which is a HUGE PLUS
It helps keep your blood sugar steady, so you don’t get those drops and cravings
It reduces cravings by balancing your hunger hormones
And it supports your muscles and metabolism, especially if you're trying to lose fat

Easy Protein-First Breakfast Ideas

• Greek yogurt + fruit + nuts
• Tuna and crackers or a tuna wrap
• Chicken sausage + avocado + toast
• Cottage cheese + fruit
• Eggs or a tofu scramble if you don’t eat eggs

You Don’t Have to Cut Sweet

If you have a sweet tooth like myself, you don’t have to cut it out completely.

Just earn it after your protein.

Protein first… then add the sweet.
